Chapter 21
Using the Plot Sequence Report

-15-

Dramatica for Screenwriters by Armando Saldaña Mora

That's it.  There's our first sequence.  How about "Deus Ex Machina" for the screenplay's title?

The Plot advances fast; all the events are irreversible, significant and true turning points.  Plus, creating them was as easy as pie and fun as well.

Most important, now we have enough material to create our first four scenes.

Perhaps more than enough.  A sequence like that may work wonderfully in a treatment and even better in a novel, but is too long and eventful, even for the most thrilling movie.

In fact, the only problem of the Plot Sequence Report is that it generates too many events.  Sixty-four are simply too many for a screenplay.  Is there a way to turn this perfect structure into a leaner plot?

Yes, there is.  It's in the next chapter. Armando Q & A
