Chapter 18
Plot Definitions II: Signposts As Plot Twists

What's wrong with this story?

"A guy turns on his answering machine and discovers that he has accidentally gotten a message with the date and information of a future terrorist attack.  He goes to the local police, but discovers that the terrorists have infiltrated the cops and that letting them know would be more dangerous than helpful.  The guy then thinks of fighting the terrorists by himself, but has no fighting skills and decides to enroll in the Marines to learn combat training.  However, he's injured during an intense drill, and they dismiss him before he can get adequate preparation.  Our hero then decides to travel to Central America, join the guerrillas, get battlefield experience, and return back to apply it against the terrorists.  On the way to Central America, though, our hero gets involved in an accident, and he ends up stranded on a desert island.  Now he has to survive the island, find a way back to the mainland, reach the guerrillas, learn from them, return and defeat the terrorists..."

And we're only on page 30 of the script!
