There it lies before us, the complete map of a character's personality. His desires, drives, limitations and principles are complex enough to keep him interesting, but simple enough to make him consistent and true. We've taken the first step in creating a great character, but we should keep in mind that it's only the first step. We now have to find how to transform these characteristics into events and material that will go in our screenplay. Sometimes we could use the scenes we've drafted for character exploration, but most times we'll have to tailor them to fit our story more precisely. In the meantime, let's go on with completing our character. We now have his inner personality, so let's give him a nice, appealing, external appearance. |
