Genre and the Dramatica Domains

To straighten these Setting/Structure dilemmas, Dramatica has implemented the Domains: these are Specific Areas Where Particular Lines Of Our Story Are Set.  They assure coherence within Structure and Setting; secure consistent time, place and events; and build up enough conflict to write a great story. 

Dramatica has four different Domains:

  • Universe (A Conflicting Situation),

  • Physics (Challenging Activities),

  • Mind (Troublesome Fixed Ideas), and

  • Psychology (Problematic Ways Of Thinking And Manipulations)

Depending on our decisions, Dramatica assigns each to a different story-thread.

So, how can we decide which Domain works best for our particular story?  Let's see which kind of story we're writing in order to make our choice:
