FOUR-ACT STRUCTURE

If we break the quad form into its four component quadrants, we can rearrange the pieces into a "timeline" going from left to right. Here are the two previous examples (1A & 1B) laid out in a "timeline:"

Example 2B

A typical Dramatica four-act structure represents the four components of a quad arranged along a timeline. This four-act view of the structure most closely represents an author's understanding of the internal timeline of a story as seen from an author's "God's Eye" point of view. It is an excellent perspective to see how the pieces fit together in the timeline.
