NYU Professor Ian Maitland on Dramatica

"I have used Dramatica Pro as a tool to focus and expand my student's ideas as they start the process of writing. I have found most students seek to use their own experiences as the basis of their first dramatic work. Many dealing with family life, many with their growing up, commonly known as "coming of age." The student's view is personal and generally lacking in dramatic structure, not to mention everyone in the story speaks like a 20 year old from collage.

"Dramatica Pro clarifies the dramatic path, clearly giving an objective view, similar to the point of view of an audience. It helps the student understand and build many of the elements required of a character, and their specific job as the story unfolds. As well as that, it's a constant companion through the writing process. It by no means replaces the teacher, but I have found it to be an invaluable "Teaching Assistant."
