TOASTMASTERS 4 WRITERS CLUB

...meets at Write Brothers in Glendale. TM4Writers meets two Saturdays per month to help writers practice public speaking skills to pitch their projects and themselves. Sponsored by Write Bros. Software, script consultant and writer Barbara Schiffman, and writer Michelle Gilstrap have launched a new Toastmasters Club to provide ongoing training, mentoring and support in public speaking for writers, producers, directors.

TM4Writers is open to writers of all types (inc. screenwriters, novelists, poets, non-fiction writers, playwrights, journalists, et al) plus producers, directors and others who need to pitch their projects (and themselves).  TM4W uses the  proven tools and programs developed and offered for over 80 years by Toastmasters Int'l (the world's foremost educational organization for training and practice in public speaking).

Toastmasters 4 Writers is designed as an ongoing supportive place for writers and others to improve and practice their speaking skills to become more comfortable and effective in the art of pitching. 

"We believe that good writers also need to be good speakers," according to Barbara and Michelle.  "You never know when or where you'll need to pitch your writing &/or yourself, speak at a book-signing or event, or accept an award!"

TM4Writers Club meets twice monthly on Saturday mornings in Glendale at the offices of Write Brothers Software. Interested guests are always welcome at no charge.  Current members of other Toastmasters Int'l clubs are also welcome to speak (for credit) if space allows.  

TM4Writers dues are affordable (less than $12/month) and include membership in Toastmasters Int'l.

WHEN:

• TM4W meetings are usually 2nd & 4th Saturdays (except for holiday months = 2nd & 3rd Sats). All meetings are from 9:30-11:30am (Doors open at 9:15).

Each meeting includes introductions of members and guests, 3 to 4 speeches from TM members (5-7 minutes each on topics of their choice) plus Evaluations of speeches by TM4W members (2-3 minutes each) and Table Topics in which guests can also participate. (What are Table Topics? Join us and find out!)  Each prepared speech focuses on using a different speaking skill, regardless of the content.

138 North Brand Blvd. - 2nd floor classroom Glendale CA (off the 134 Freeway East - Central/Brand Exit; go straight to  Brand, right/south to 138 NORTH) This is in The Glendale Exchange; parking is available in structure 1 block east of Brand -- $1.50 for 3 hours with merchant validation (Jamba Juice, Java City Coffee, etc.)

Parking is also available in Glendale Marketplace structure one block south (east of Brand, south of Broadway).
