Dramatica® Unbound

Designed for writers with some prior experience with Dramatica, this is an eight-week hands-on seminar in applying the theory to one's own work.

To provide a starter, writers will select a fairy tale (or another existing work approved by the instructor). Using Dramatica and related principles explored in Dramatica Basics and elsewhere, writers will begin adapting their chosen tale into an original story, set in a context developed by the writer. Depending on the length of the medium attempted and level of commitment of the writer, writers may leave the seminar with:

  • a completed short story
  • a treatment and sample scenes of a screen or stage play, or
  • a synopsis and several chapters or scenes of a novel.

Course dates: April 16, 2003-June 10, 2003 | Course fee: $249

Enrollment is limited and at the discretion of the instructor. Please email your interest in participating to Lisa Firke by April 1, 2003. Include in the body of your email:

  • a description of your Dramatica experience to date
  • a short writing sample (250 words max.)
  • mention of any prior work with Lisa or contact with her through the Dramatica community

Participants will be notified of their enrollment status no later than April 10, 2003. The course fee is due in full by April 20, 2003.

Another session is planned for September-October, 2003.
