Mental Relativity

During the development of the Dramatica theory, Melanie Anne Phillips and Chris Huntley developed another theory called "Mental Relativity." Mental Relativity is a model of human psychology that describes how the mind works and, more specifically, how the mind attempts to resolve inequities through problem solving and justification. This section contains early materials from the development of Mental Relativity.

"Mental Relativity" -- The Book
This is a forty page, downloadable .pdf version of the first serious attempt to quantify Mental Relativity's basic concepts. It was written in 1991 and is one of the earliest documents of its type. (164K) (download now)

The Conflict-o-meter
A very early attempt "mapping" the dynamics behind conflict. There are two downloadable, .pdf versions presented here. The first is from September 1990 (8K). (download now) The second is a slightly more simplified version from January 1992 (7K). (download now)
